Meet The Speaker

Mr Rudyanto Azhar

Malaysia

Director, Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA)

Rudy leads his team in advising the State of Johor and the federal government on economic development strategies for Iskandar Malaysia. The Economics and Investment Division translates and facilitates the execution of national level strategies and blueprints at the regional level by working closely with public officials, business leaders and stakeholders to realise new high-growth and high-value investment into the region. From 2017 to June 2024, Rudy was instrumental in leading the Iskandar Rapid Transit (IRT) team in developing and implementing mass rapid transit project for Iskandar Malaysia until the project was reassigned to the Ministry of Transport in April 2024. He started his career in Maybank, then went on to be a management consultant at Deloitte, and subsequently, at Formates. In 2010, Rudy joined the pioneering team establishing Malaysia’s Land Public Transport Authority shouldering the role of Head of Corporate Services. Then he joined Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, a federal government owned company under the Ministry of Finance having a role in the strategic planning of public transportation services. In 2013, Rudy was appointed as the CEO of Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd (PRIDE), driving the transit oriented development and commercial activities of Prasarana Group. Prior to joining IRDA in 2017, he was with MRT Corp. in-charged of planning, construction and service deployment of feeder bus services of Klang Valley’s first mass rapid transit (MRT) Line. Rudy attended Global CEO Programme, Cranfield School of Management, UK; he holds a master’s Degree in Management from University Malaya and a Degree in Accounting & Finance from University of Kent at Canterbury, UK.
